چکیده

T he term acute coronary syndrome (ACS) refers to a spectrum of acute severe cardiac disorders which include unstable angina (UA), non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), and ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Patients presenting with ACS represent a major health problem, accounting for 2.5 million hospitalisations and 500 000 deaths annually in the USA alone. We have previously demonstrated that use of combination evidence based medical treatments including antiplatelet agents, b blockers, statins, and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors is independently and strongly associated with lower six month mortality in patients with ACS. In the present study we assessed the treatment effect of combination therapy in patients stratified according to their risk of future cardiovascular events according to the thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) risk score.

No-Reflow Phenomenon in Patients with ST-Elevation Acute Myocardial Infarction, Treated with Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: A Study of Predictive Factors

Introduction: No-reflow phenomenon in coronary vessels, manifested in some patients with reperfused acute myocardial infarction (MI), is associated with poor clinical and functional outcomes. Therefore, evaluation of predisposing risk factors can be helpful in risk assessment and identification of patients at higher risk. Herein, we aimed to study the predictive factors for the development of...

Benefit of clopidogrel in patients with acute coronary syndromes without ST-segment elevation in various risk groups.

BACKGROUND The Clopidogrel in Unstable angina to prevent Recurrent Events (CURE) trial demonstrated that clopidogrel, given early and continued long term, was superior to placebo in patients with non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndromes receiving aspirin. The purpose of the present analysis was to estimate the treatment effect Zof clopidogrel in patients who were stratified according to their ...

Comparison of the Success Rate of Treatment with Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention PCI versus Thrombolytic Treatment in Patients with ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction in Local Hospitals in Iran

Background and Objective: Acute myocardial infarction (MI) is caused due to coronary artery occlusion and divided into two forms of ST-elevation (STEMI) and non-ST-elevation (NSTEMI) myocardial infarction. This study aimed to determine the success rate of treatment with primary PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) versus thrombolysis in the establishment of perfusion and to evaluate the sho...

Evaluating long-term outcomes of coronary angioplasty with or without post-dilatation

Introduction: Post-dilatation is associated with a simultaneous expansion of the stents that enhances the angioplasty outcomes. However, increased risk of mortality and morbidity has been reported in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) which has provoked considerable controversies concerning its efficiency. Materials and Methods: During a two-...
